This study suggests that there were improvements in the upper extremity and hand function in the FPMI, TPMI and control groups. Both the FPMI and TPMI groups demonstrated similar improvement in the performance-based upper extremity and hand function better than the control group, especially in fine hand skills. Follow-up assessment of both the FPMI and TPMI groups showed significant improvement in the self-perceived upper extremity and hand function in comparison to the control group. The TPMI group showed significant improvement in quality of life in comparison to the FPMI and control groups.
