Inclusion criteria

The trial will include a broadly representative group of people with type 2 diabetes. The main inclusion criteria are: 1. Diagnosis of type 2 diabetes; 2. Aged ?18 years; 3. Body mass index > 18.5 kg/m2 ; 4. Drug naïve, or managed with metformin monotherapy and willing to be randomised; 5. eGFR ?30 ml/min/1,73m2 ; and 6. Signed informed consent.
